Antifracking Solidarity event - Not Here Not Anywhere

Saturday 29 October

Please join us for this antifracking event at the Preston Climate Emergency Centre.

We will be welcoming antifracking campaigners from Texas and Mexico Indigenous community groups to the North West and hear their stories of resistance. We will be joined by Preston New Road antifracking activists for a rally and discussion.

Our oversea guests will be:

  • Bekah Hinojosa, artist & organizer from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas who works with her community and others along the Texas coastline to stop oil & gas export projects that would harm people of color and Indigenous populations.
  • Christopher Basaldú, from the Esto'k Gna in the Carrizo/Comecrudo Nation, who has participated in several indigenous movements to resist extractivism, against the oil & gas industries.
  • Oliveria Montès Lazcano, Coordinator of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples in the region of Huachinango Puebla, who has participated since 2016 in the defense her community territory against the Tuxpan-Tula gas pipeline
  • Rogel del Rosal Valladares, involved in fighting against the spanish/basque corporation Iberdrola which is building LNG facilities and some fracking fields in the San Luis de Potosi state in Mexico.

Join us at 1.30pm for a public rally with those amazing activists and our local antifracking campaigners. We will hear the stories of resistance as well as take questions and have a discussion. From 3pm, we will host a strategy discussion on the next steps of the UK antifracking campaigns, how we build for the 12 November COP27 mobilisation in Blackpool and how we integrate International Solidarity in our campaigning.

Please register to let us know you are coming as the venue has limited spaces.
